WOW customers with the taste of halva

What is Halva?

Halva is a sweet treat enjoyed across Eastern Europe and the Middle East for centuries. It is made by blending the finest tahini (ground sesame seeds) with sugar, foaming agents and then hand-mixing in a variety of exciting natural flavours. Our halva is of the highest quality, handmade following a generations-old recipe with a very high tahini content. Join Bary's mission – to bring halva to the world!

In 2015 Bary arrived with a suitcase of halva and a dream… from his factory in the Middle East he wanted to share his love of halva all over the world and for his rich, flavoursome superfood to be an accepted part of the diet and culture for people everywhere. After all, look at what had happened with hummus!

Bary had been chasing his lifelong friend Remi for 2 years about his halva dream. When Bary got to the UK and Remi tasted the product for himself, he was immediately hooked. The two friends set about building their business.

Their first kiosk was soon opened in the Lakeside shopping centre. They opened at 9am and within 5 minutes the boys had made their first sale! It quickly became clear that customers were amazed and taken by their special healthy dessert and experience of visiting the kiosk.

The business at Lakeside grew rapidly and the boys were keen to see if their success could be replicated in another location with a different demographic customer base. SesamMe Milton Keynes was born… and sales rapidly took off there too.

In the first 12 months in both locations, Bary, Remi and their fast-growing team sold nearly 12 tonnes of halva – Bary had to move from suitcases to shipping containers!

Having proven the demand for their products across different markets, for Bary and Remi to achieve their dreams and realise the full potential of SesamMe they needed to find a way of growing the business rapidly in a way that would safeguard the quality of their offering and their unique way of selling them: the SesamMe franchise model was born.

With over 20 years of experience in UK franchising and as the former deputy director general of the British Franchise Association and a franchisee himself, Simon Wise was chosen by Bary and Remi to project manage the development and launch of the SesamMe franchise. Simon handpicked a special group of franchise professionals to build a truly unique, ethical, rewarding franchise opportunity.

“I’ve been at forefront of the UK franchise industry for over 20 years and in that time I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly; so I am using all my experience and franchising knowhow to build the best franchise opportunity - low entry costs, high profit potential and an excellent return on capital. We are building a real business format franchise with real potential to give our franchisees the lifestyle they always promised themselves.”
